Presented by Joris Lange (product owner), Amerik van Rijn (project manager) and Vincent Lussenburg
Abstract:
We will be presenting our experiences introducing an agile approach in a large corporate context from different viewpoints. Specifically, the Product Owner, project manager and a team member will be telling about their own experiences with agile. How does the agile process make the life of “the business” easier? How do they like the new role of ‘Product Owner’? And how about the infamous role of project manager, a role that has no place in agile: what was his function in our agile project and how can he be made happy and prevented from looking constantly over the teams shoulders?
We’ll start our session by first providing an overview of how our project process exactly works and how the team is composed. Next, we will allow the participants to choose from a set of prepared subjects, structured around three themes:
- the daily routine (for instance: standups)
- the iteration routine (for instance: iteration planning, pokering, prioritizing)
- the release routine (for instance: story mapping, planning, variable scope or variable time)
The Product Owner, the project manager and the team member will each talk about the subjects from their own viewpoint.
We aim for a session without slides with dozens of bullets and walls of text but instead a just a few slides with lots of pictures and lots of interaction.
Format and length:
Sixty minutes interactive experience-report (presented by product owner / project manager / team member).
Intended audience and prerequisites:
We have something for participants with any level of experience with agile. People who want to start with an agile project can gain insights on how agile can be introduced to stakeholders. More experienced people that want to improve the co-operation with their business or project manager can learn how to better serve their needs.
Prerequisite knowledge: we expect the participants to have basic knowledge of how the agile process works.
Objective(s) of the session:
We aim for the participants to:
- Learn the details on how a certain agile implementation worked well in a large company
- Learn how to get your project manager to like agile ;-)
- Learn how to use agile to make your business happier
We hope that the things you will learn here can be practically applied in your project – starting tomorrow!
Benefits for participants and presenter(s):
Participants can benefit from completing the objectives defined above.
We (presenters) will benefit from feedback of the participants, which we can use to evolve our agile process.
